Goethe Institute to Award Cameroonian Films |

Three short Cameroonian films have won a German Cultural Centre organised film Awards. The three emerged from a list of 33 films submitted for the competition. The jury, comprising of Jean-Marie Mollo Olinga (renowned film critic), Marc-Andre Schmatel (film/culture expert) and Ernest Kanjo (journalist/film critic in grooming), also choose a film for an encouragement prize. Producers of the films, whose titles will be announced in subsequent updates, will be presented to the public during an event to award them in the coming days. Among the films submitted for the competition, were those of some renowned English-speaking film makers including Zigoto Tchaya Tchameni, Nancy Kienyo, Ifaana Kwalar etc The competition is aimed at encouraging and promoting film makers in Cameroon at the time the industry is set to bloom. More of such competitions are definitely going to be organised by Goethe Institute that has pledged to promote the Cameroonian film industry. Meanwhile, 12 of the 33 films have been selected for projection at the Goethe Institute.
