Bamenda: Some 19 coveted prizes have been dished out to meritorious individuals, companies and productions. The prizes were awarded by the Dream Africa Movies Awards, DAMA, 2012 edition. Taking place at the Azam Hotel in Bamenda, DAMA 2012 recognized some of the most spectacular people working hard in order to give the Cameroonian film industry a place on the world stage. Just like the Cam Movies Merit Award, CMMA, the name of Jeffery Epule featured again as best Cameroonian actor. This comes to add to a good number of other awards the hope-rising actor has been harvesting in recent times. Also, DAMA judged USA-based film director, Akim Macauley as the most valuable, at least as far as 2012 was concerned. Akim, it should be recalled he had won a prize at the CMMA as well. Just like other recent awards, Decoded featured several times at the DAMA. It is a 2012 movie directed by Akim Macualey, staring Solange Yijika, Otia Vitalis and Ghollywood/Nollywood’s Van Vicker. And as the Governor of the North West region encouraged potential sponsors to support youths as they explore their talents, there was hope flickering on the minds of guests to the event. Even a few organizational hitches did not stop them from hitting the red carpet and giving DAMA 2012 the grandeur it deserved. Rather, they transformed such short-comings into laughable comedy dozes and music which performing artists that evening use in holding guests spellbound. DAMA 2012 is now history, but it would be remembered for having declared the following as winners: 1. DAMA PRIZE FOR BEST SHORT FILM |
