One thing about creative artists is that they easily acquire multiple skills. It suffices to take them out of their domain for just a moment, drill them briefly in another area and they waste no time in fitting squarely. This has so often been a common phenomenon with musicians. Many of them have had a smooth shuttle between singing and acting. Each time a musician has had to go on a movie set, they have not only been impressive, but have made the film a sellout. One of the singers who have just showcased the other side of his creative skills is Samy Diko. The makossa icon who has been living in France for quite some time now will be featuring in Critical Point, an up-coming Cameroonian movie shot in Belgium and Holland. According to the producer of the movie, the musician's participation in Critical Point was not by chance. "I wanted him on board because Samy Diko is fluent in both English and French," Kang Quintus told TIPTOPSTARS Editor on the line to Antwerp, Belgium. "He is one of the rare Cameroonian artistes who has that gift," he added. Kang however said it was largely due to the makossa star's passion for acting that he co-opted him for the Critical Point project. He said: "Samy Diko has a huge passion for acting and has even suggested that I give him major roles in subsequent productions." "And I'm ready to do that because he is easy to deal with and delivers well," the producer of the 95 minutes up-coming movie went on. TIPTOPSTARS also learnt that Samy Diko, a former singer in the Sans Visas band displayed a mastery of lines during shooting. "Whereas he had just a few hours to study his script," said Kang. He was amazing, respectful and down-to-earth, Kang explained. But how did you get Samy Diko to feature in your movie? "I contacted him on phone just before he came to Belgium where he was guest star at the launch of the 2012 Miss Cameroon Belgium contest ," Kang recounted. And went on: "That was in December 2011. After his performance, we went shooting."Samy Diko played the protagonist 's friend in Critical Point. His role in the movie in most cases is advisory. Samy Diko who won the best musician of the year award in the year 2000 (CRTV's Feux d'Artifice) takes on the movie set after several other counterparts have done so. They include Beti Beti of blessed memory (in Badiaga), Richard Kings and Sidney now Sine (in Ride My Wrongs), Achalle and Bright Phase (in Not My Will).
