Cameroon: Actors negotiate last bend |

It is now clear actors in Cameroon are determined to make acting a worthwhile occupation. Meeting in Buea recently in their second national convention, members of the Actor's Guild of Cameroon (AGC) agreed they were negotiating their last bend towards glory. That final route is to adopt a constitution, set up a bureau by election and get to work. To that effect, delegates at the Buea meeting formed a constitutional committee which will study the proposed document, make suggestions, tailor it to suit AGC's aspiration and present it during their next come-together for adoption. The committee comprising of Moma Pascal (Bob), Chiatoh Collins, Agbor Magdalene, Nsuh George and others have up till 25 February 2011 to round off before presenting their work to the General Assembly the next day, 26 February 2011 in Kumba, South West region of Cameroon.
''We shall be meeting in Bamenda on 9 January 2011 to work on the proposed constitution," Moma Pascal (Bob) who has played a pivotal role in bringing actors together told TIPTOPSTARS soon after returning from Buea. The Buea meeting came on the heels of problems plaguing the art including poor pay, poor visibility, no contracts with producers, etc. The meeting was attended amongst others by the national coordinator of the Cameroon Film Industry (CFI) Waa Nkeng Musi, CFI's Secretary General Chiatoh Collins doubling as an actor, and CFI's PROs Agbor Gilbert and Musing Derick. Prominent in the hall were screen stars such as Moma Pascal (Bob), Quinta Eyong Ashu (Mama Queen), Agbor Magdalene (Mama Meg), Nsuh George (Big George), Ngassa Janvier Oyono, Ayukachem Stephen (Maru Gatscaya). It should be recalled that a previous meeting was held in Muyuka on 28 August 2010. Elections will be announced at the Kumba meeting come February 2011. |
