Amsterdam NL, autumn|winter 2014 - A multi-talented Amsterdam-based fashion designer, model and director of Africa Fashion Week (a company helping fashion designers at every stage of their careers to showcase their creativity and talent on a global stage) won two awards in a row this month. In 2011 the laureates Diana Tambe launched her first red carpet collection under the Label Blackpearl's Secret. That same year, she introduced the first and only Africa fashion week in Amsterdam, Holland. After designing several seasonal collections since 2010, she realized there was no platform to expose her hard work and that of other up-coming African style designers. That inspired the creation of Africa Fashion Week, AFWA. AFWA is a highly acclaimed Amsterdam-run based fashion event company helping African and African-inspired fashion designers at every stage of their careers. It helps them showcase their creativity and talent on a global stage primarily through event management of fashion shows, catwalk displays, workshops, etc. Not only does this provide the opportunity for the world to explore new and exciting fashion, it also gives designers the opportunity to express their creativity within a professional environment. The annual event is meant to be one of the most anticipated events of the year.
