Who says it’s not time to sit back and savour the goodies of arts and culture! After Cameroon’s movie celebrities would have hanged out in Buea this coming weekend, for the CFI Hang-out Party, they will converge on Bamenda to continue counting their blessings and talking over hard-earned successes. DAMA, the Dream Africa Movie Awards will be the reason for this great come-together which has rocked the headlines in the past couple of months. That the second edition of this now popular movie recognition event is going to be one of Cameroon’s memorable arts and culture rendezvous is an undeniable fact. From all indications, DAMA II will be rich in content and style. Perhaps, the glamour, Etiendem Romanus (main organizer) and co have reserved for the event is what the 2012 DAMA audience would love to remember even long after it would have come and gone.
Preparations have thus stepped up in the host town, Bamenda, where Azam Hotel, the event’s venue is situated. And even as we write, anxiety continues to sweep across fans of entertainment, especially those who have found a place in their hearts for movies. “I can’t wait for November 24 to attend DAMA 2012. After being part of the first edition, I drew the conclusion that I’d found an event that satisfies my taste,” a Limbe entertainment addict told TIPTOPSTARS. DAMA is a charitable arm of Quibeku Film Empire which commemorates or rewards the merit creativity in the Africa movie industry. The Awards serves as recognition to compelling movies, maverick filmmakers and acting excellence in Africa and the diaspora.
According to organizers, there were hundreds of movies, documentaries and short films submitted by local and international film houses for the contest. After a meticulous screening by the DAMA international panel of judges, meritorious ones were selected and nominated TIPTOPSTARS will be covering every bit of the event. The nominations:
