Her name is Niba Immaculate .She is sometimes fondly called Genevieve Nnaji. She made her debut on set in Asaba Ferdinand’s Mark of the Absolute. After that production, Niba, motivated by her performance, fell in love with acting. She was not only enthusiastic, but was ready to grow as an actress. Her commitment in the course eventually earned her a designation as one of the coordinators of the caretaker committee of the Yaounde branch of the Actors’ Guild, a position she turned down at her installation. Reason: “I’m being called to serve elsewhere and may not be very available for the task,” she told an assembly of actors recently in Yaounde. The actress explained that she has finally decided to go to where she was meant. “I’ve always dodged, but this time, I can’t any longer. I’m meant to be an Apostolic in the Catholic Church,” the actress told this reporter. “Consequently, I’ve complied never to marry nor have a child,” she went further. Niba continued “I”ll however not quit acting, but my roles should henceforth have something to do with Christianity and have a moral lesson to the audience.” Niba said she has left the world of materialism and cannot boast of more than seven dresses in her wardrobe. “I’ve given out the rest to charity, precisely to an orphanage,” she revealed. You would now see her (if at all you can, because she is quite reserved) only with a gown and a veil with bare ears and no make-up. “That’s my new life and quite comfortable with it,” she said. She added: “I’m even more comfortable than anyone would imagine.” That has however not given her peace from men who want her hand in marriage. “Many men are approaching me for marriage, but in them all, I only see the love of Christ,” she explained. Niba moves to Bamenda in May to begin training. She will travel to France at the end of the year for further drilling. She is also a History teacher in a Yaounde private college.
