Another bouncing baby will be born into the Cameroonian movie family by mid July this year. Switch Roles, directed by Njeck Linus is in a Yaounde film clinic undergoing post-production and there is reported anxiety among the country’s movie lovers. Reason: Switch Roles is benefitting from some of the Cameroon’s finest actors - Epule Jeffrey, Bende Sende, Nchifor Valery and Nchini Mabel.
“We shot the entire film for five days and are now working towards its release which we think should come up by mid July this year,” Njeck told us. Talking to TIPTOPSTARS’ Editor on the line to Yaounde, Cameroon, the director of Switch Roles who doubles as co-producer also indicated that a premiere of the movie is being planned for Yaounde upon release.
Written by E.N Pel, Switch Role decries male chauvinism which thrives at the expense of women’s emancipation. In the story, a newlywed lady (Bende Sende) is living under tortuous conditions from her husband, a proud movie director (Jeffery Epule). Though soundly educated, she cannot find a job, so she stays at home and takes care of domestic chores. The husband takes advantage of his bread winner status to inflict emotional as well as physical pain on his wife. Unable to endure this anymore, the woman proposes that they switch roles – she would become the bread winner and her husband will assume home-keeping. Our movie director husband happily cues in to that, hoping it will relieve him from the purported bread winner stress he claims he had been going through. Luck smiles on the humble spouse who picks up a lucrative job and now runs the finances of the family. Behold, not long, she starts serving her husband with the same treatment she received from him before changing status. The rest of the story is what you will be savouring two-hour long Cameroonian movie that will be revealing certain truths about matrimony.
With DJ Blerk (D.O.P) manning the cameras and Tabi Zama beaming the lights, Switching Roles whose locations were carefully selected by Ayi Chatou Inoua will no doubt be masterpiece technically speaking. Also featuring in the movie are Muma Rosina, Rooty Dobby (doubling as co-producer), Solange Manka, Akime Lionel and Yannick Dominus. The artists were made up by Seraphine Tiku. LT Njeck has produced other movies including Student’s Cot, Osmosis, Katrina, etc.
