Gone are the days when martial arts movies were a preserve of the Chinese or to an extent, a Hollywood affair. The wind of such productions is about now blowing across other parts of the world including Africa. Cameroon seems to be climbing the stage shoulders high. And one of custodians of African martial arts film tradition is Cameroonian-born Aurelien Henry Obama. Obama, a gifted and skilful martial art hero will stop at nothing to see this tradition grow from lips and bound.
One of the ways he is contributing to the development of this genre is by producing action films. One of such films is about to be made. Le Lien Du Sang, literally translated into English as Blood Link will be shot from August to October this year. “We are putting thing together to ensure a hitch-free production,” producer Obama reported.
Talking to TIPTOPSTARS Editor, Obama revealed that the film which will span from 90 minutes to two hours in length will be shot on locations in Yaounde and Soa, in the Centre region of Cameroon.
Written by Aurelien Henry Obama, Lien Du Sang takes a look at some of the most challenging contemporary societal issues including unemployment and the proliferation of dark-world set-ups. The writer pits good against evil and naturally makes Christian conviction triumphant.
In the story therefore, a young graduate, living with his female friend and child is frustrated due to unemployment. He has job-searched in vain. His best friend, a martial artist is employed and doing well. This current situation causes our protagonist to lose faith in God, whereas his female friend is active in Church. One day, he meets his cousin, a very rich young man. The said cousin introduces him to a wealthy and influential man who is head of an underworld set-up. The jobless graduate is told that this big gun can transform his life into a field of wealth. Our boy makes the greatest mistake in his life by meeting the devil His child is later kidnapped by the set-up. He has the challenge to recover him and must employ faith in God to defeat the devil. The rest of the story will be discovered in the highly anticipated action film to be directed by Kelly Ntep who also takes the roles of D.O.P, storyboard developer, special effects and editor and co-producer of Lien Du Sang.
Also making up the crew for the movie are Jean Vidal Ngono (writer, fight choreographer and co-producer), Christian Tsoungui (co-producer), Blaise Etoundi (fight choreographer), Langmia Edmond (artistic director), K.H.C YAYA (make- up artist), Jean Yves Ottou aka The Big (music score and sound), Malick Ntep ( music provider), Prosper Ottou (associate producer and consultant), Raoul Biniga (associate producer and webmaster), Frank Ndema (executive producer), K-meron Popman (associate producer and assistant director), Aurelien Henry OBAMA (writer, sreenplay, casting, fight choreography, assistant director) and others.
