Nigmare of a beliefThe Nightmare of a Belief by Cameroonain filmmaker Samuel Loe which was first screened at the 11th Göttingen International Ethnographic Film Festival, has come out emergent in the category ‘Best student film’ at the 21st International Festival of Ethnological Film in Belgrade.

This year's festival organized by the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade was held from 11 to 15 October 2012, and was dedicated to the latest global films with ethnological themes. Over 90 films from 25 countries were selected -“ for my film to have been selected amongsts numerous entries, is already a success story for me “ Samuel Loe, who is currently in Cameroon, where he is working on another film told TIPTOPSTARS editor.

The Nightmare of a Belief of a belief is a strong autobiographical theme which journeys the filmaker into the nightmare of his own childhood – a world of black magic that characterises the life of the people of Mbangui Chari in Cameroon where tragedies, bad experiences and events have their origin in the supernatural. A belief that is deeply rooted in the society, in which Loe grew up.

The award for best student film opens the gateway for filmaker Samuel Loe currently completing his Master's degree in Media Production at the University of East Westphalia-Lippe-Germany) to have his next ethnographic film produced by the Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade.

The Nightmare of a Belief of a belief is scheduled for other international festivals:
