After what lovers of his works have described as a disturbingly long silence, USA-based Cameroonian filmmaker, Agbor E. Stephen aka Big Steve is back on the film set. His latest movie, BACK TO KINSHIP is set to be released at a premiere billed for Douala’s Canal Olympia on October 15, 2021. Shot some time ago in New Orleans, the movie is directed by Big Steve himself, starring Cameroonian international actress and Nollywood’s Okawa Shaznay, frontline Cameroonian urban artist and rapper Stanley Enow and Joseph Benjamin.
With director Neba Lawrence and under the banner of Chrono Entertainment, Big Steve produced some of the most valued Cameroonian movies, before his relocation to the United States. Steve is known to have been the fisher of some talented actors who later occupied the front seat in the country’s film industry bus, including Tanyisong Candylaurice. He released works back-to-back. From 2007 till he moved to the USA, the producer of the highly mediatized CLASH OF INHERITANCE (starring Solange Ojong, Quinta Eyong, Moma Pascal aka Bob) and directed by Neba Lawrence, released PHEONIX SCAR, NEGLATED TRADITION and GREAT OBLIGATION.
BACK TO KINSHIP, a New Genre Films is Steve’s first movie, shot in the United States. It comes at time Cameroonian movies are displaying an amazing show of competitiveness and answering present at internationally acclaimed movie streaming headquarters – Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Agbor Steve will be on Apex 1 Radio in the coming weeks to throw more light on BACK TO KINSHIP and his experience shooting in the USA.

Promise Akanteh is a refined Journalist who also takes interest in promoting arts and culture. On her radio show, CULTURAL VIBES, produced on Royal FM Yaounde, the host and her guests delve into the core of various cultural values in music, dance, craft, fashion, etc. Artists such as Leonette Ayeah who display an amazing mastery in handwork are the kind of guest Promise would have on CULTURAL VIBES. Leonette recycles tyres, transforming them into beautiful home furniture. Her furniture would look great on the screen, if used as a film set by filmmakers such as Ruth Nkweti whose appetite for knowledge in her field continue to grow by the day. Ruth just rounded off a course in digital filmmaking, a reason to celebrate the goodness of God, just like her namesake, Ruth Asong does in her music. Asong is currently building a rich gospel music career at a time Dr Robert Kargbo has engaged a writing journey he hopes to use in helping people solve interpersonal conflicts. His book, THE ACT OF SOLVING INTERPERSONAL PROBLEMS is in circulation and available of Amazon. These ingenious Africans and their works/projects, constitute this week’s edition of AFRICAN FIESTA on Apex 1 Radio. The show comes up this Saturday beginning at 10 am EST (3pm gmt+1). Driven by constant words of encouragement from his beloved mother of blessed memory, Lovert Lambe challenged himself to hit the apex of a God-given talent he had nurtured for years – acting. Even when the talented comedian, today Copees of the Capees Comedy World spent much time in the past, backing up gospel music artists in the studio, ministering at concerts and editing videos, he pressed on with acting. If Nkanya Nkwai gave him a thumbs-up in A Good Time To Divorce, produced by USA-based Lami Nicole and streaming on Amazon Prime Video since 2020, Bechem Bisong and Tessy Esseme, were pleased having him featuring Manso and Where I Come From, respectively. Lovert has also featured in Apple for Two, Stray, Maija, The Chariots of the gods and R’gony.
Perhaps, the comic side of Lovert which turned the Buea-based multi-talented ‘massa’ of Caro, is the biggest reason he is now the most talked-about Cameroonian comedian. Just five years into the journey (having embarked in 2015), Lovert changed his own story by simply bonding with Mbeng Lilian, Caro and flowing in an irresistible ocean of acting brilliance. This has resulted to some of the best skits ever produced in the past one year, including Kwacoco Go Sweet So?, Over Know, Poke-Nose, Electric Bill, Cleaners, Long Hand, Repentance, Cunny, Njangi, Marriage Counsellors, Public Tap, etc.
Award-winning Lovert, Copees, and Lilian, Caro, run what is now described as the most successful comedy project in Cameroon, Capees Comey World which produces weekly skits, released every Friday. The two now most valuable comedians work with a big team of people comprising actors and technicians, but their biggest asset is the 16,000 subscribers on their YouTube channel.

Caro’s Catchy Comedy

Unless you are an alien in performance arts, it would not be strange that an actor with a BSc in Psychology would be such a great performer on set. In most cases where they did not formally train to become actors in a Performing Arts and Cinematography program in the university, acting runs in the blood. That is the case with Lilian Mbeng Nkemasong, now the famous Caro of Capees Comedy World. It took the Capees Comedy World initiative to beam Lilian’s acting prowess to the world, something her immediate film industry sluggishly struggled on. It was rough in the past, as she made frantic efforts in building her film acting, a passion held and still does in exceedingly high esteem. Even when the University of Buea graduate who hails from the South West Region made it from town to town to pick movie roles, these trips only resulted to poor pay and at times, zero franc. Giving up had never been an option, so the talented actress pressed on and consistently showed up for assignments, defying all odds.
Through her acting exploits which went underway in 2016, Lilian has used her brilliant performance in telling stories in films including Three Wives (TV series on CRTV), Tears in Pain, Efeyo, Little Sam, Big Sam, A Pluses, Maestro (TV series – upcoming), BIBI La Fleur, Agony and When-It-Ends.
While the Buea-based actress crisscrossed movie sets to tell stories via what she knows best, Lilian’s comedy endowment laid low in a resting place, hoping for an opportunity to arise until Capees Comedy World showed up to ring the waking bell 12 months ago. Cloned to an acting mate, the famous Lovert Lambe aka Copees, Lilian’s outpour of talent became comparable only to the waves of water from a punctured dam. Today, the first daughter in a family of five children, is a force to reckon with when it comes to comedy performance.
Lilian, Caro, and Lovert, Copees, run what is now described as the most successful comedy project in Cameroon, Capees Comey World which produced weekly skits, released every Friday. They work with a big team of people comprising actors and technicians, but their biggest asset is the 16,000 subscribers on their YouTube channel.
Over the months Caro and Copees have entertained their audience with mouth-watering pieces such Kwacoco Go Sweet So?, Over Know, Poke-Nose, Electric Bill, Cleaners, Long Hand, Repentance, Cunny, Njangi, Marriage Counsellors, Public Tap, etc.
