Miss P Show host to meet the Obamas
News / Latest / Ernest Kanjo

MissPshow _april1TTS
On the invitation of the Universal Documentary Services (UDS), Cameroonian TV host, Pamela Happi will be in Washington DC as from Wednesday, April 11, 2018, to film a special edition of the Miss P Show with the United States former first family. A list of African TV talk show hosts accredited by UDS, a renowned America-based TV documentary outfit to do post-White House feature reports on the Obamas, was announced on Msnbc News an hour ago and is published on the weekend edition of Washington Post.

Speaking to Washington Post’s Moteli Kemi in her “Africa Today” column, former first lady, Michelle Obama explained that the choice of Pamela Happi of the Miss P Show was not by chance. “When UDS contacted us for the feature reports projects, we asked to know who the reporters would be,” she said. “They rather suggested we should select them from three continents for the first phase, five from Africa, two from Europe and three from South America.”

For Africa, the former first lady told Washington Post, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya were on the list and the Obamas had to select one host from each of these countries. “That’s how my daughters and I set to research on African TV shows produced in the countries from which UDS wanted us to select,” Michelle explained. “Behold, when we came across the Miss P Show, we were amazingly unanimous that the host was our favorite and that’s how Pamela Happi got on our list.” Mrs Obama went further: “After watching a couple of her shows, we discovered a young TV host who is so gifted, charismatic on her job and success-driven. Her diction is superb and her thoughts and questions so organized. This cajoled the family and we will be very excited to receive her for the interview.”

Soon after we got the news, TIPTOPSTARS’ editor rang the famous TV talk show host for her reaction. “My immediately reaction was to tell myself that my dreams are not failing me,” Pamela, speaking from Doauala, explained her first feelings to us. “In fact Ernest, for the first time, I saw myself leaping to the height of my ceiling in total jubilance.” “Someone has kept telling me that somebody, somewhere, somehow is watching me and taking note and that someday, they will react mightily, this is it Ernest. I’m more that happy about this.”

To be on a set with the Obamas, cameras pointing and you know the world would watch, we put it to the host of the Miss P Show. “Ernest, to be honest, this is a big one, a herculean task, but should I say I am nervous already – I think Pamela Happi is not. I’m up to the task, trust me,” she said confidently. “I have always told myself I’ll get to talk to the most powerful people on earth, this is it unfolding.”

April 11 is not far from today – how will Pamela prepare for this? “Ernest, let’s all wait and see how this unfolds together,” Pamela said.

It should be recalled that just like her husband, Michelle was fond of showing up on TV shows during the Obama tenure in office. She would practically dance, sing, cook and play games to the utter amazement of the audience.

Pamela Happi’s invitation comes just few days after the resumption of the Miss P Show for a new season. Generally seen to be one of the best things that have happened on TV entertainment in recent years, the show first went on the screens in 2015. It has featured some of the most spectacular entertainers in Cameroon and Africa.

Meantime, the United Documentary Services is an internationally recognized TV feature reports and documentary production company with headquarters in New Jersey, USA. It has just embarked on a huge project to produce a series of feature reports on the former President and his family after their stay at the White House which ended on January 20, 2017. “We count a lot on the show hosts who have been selected to do this job and fervently hope they’ll do their best,” Dwanyne Richardson, UDS production manager told Washington Post.

CNN-WAKANDA COMEDY MASTERPIECE MEET SAMA BABILA CARLSON
News / Latest / TTS
Friday, 30 March 2018 09:58

Orangefinalpost
Unlike politics where a politician must get on their mark by creating a base before leaping, arts can catapult an artist in less than no time. In fact, that breakthrough may happen on day one. The only requirement is an artistic masterpiece - the one which can shine an artist's light so brightly to the point of drowning any little portion of darkness. Such works have the propensity of emitting only positive reactions.

It would not be any exaggeration if one used this assertion to describe Sama Babila Carlson's CNN-Black Panther comic piece now said to be one of the most amazing things that happened to comedy of late. Released a couple of days ago, the piece, a make-believe interview on CNN about reactions to the Black Panther movie, has attracted enormous admiration for the comedian. "How would a man be so meticulous in crafting this?" a Sama admirer wondered.

This work which has gone viral is definitely just what was required for the UK-based Cameroonian comedian to get to the spotlight and today hats are doffing.

It would however be interesting to know how the comedian knitted this piece for it to be this palatable. It would even be more interesting to trace his route into the art he seems to know best. Sama Babila Carlson, who doubles as a Medical Doctor (currently studying) tells his own story on radio this Friday, march 30, 2018. Join us to discover the intellectual comedian on Apex Snapshot which begins at 12 noon eastern time (5pm GMT). The show will be live on Apex 1 Radio - www.apex1radio.com Catch you on the airwaves!

World premieres: Oklahoma City, Dalla, play host to A Good Time To Divorce
News / Latest / By Nkanya Nkwai
Tuesday, 27 February 2018 22:03

divorce tiptopstarsEven the most lucid things have become incomprehensible. What's funny appears stupid and makes no sense. The acrimony we live at the immediate time culled - out of what is going on in our society leaves no room in us for "entertainment". This puts some of us in the creative industry in a very difficult place. Some of us wish we didn't have to release and put forth what's meant for entertainment when the people are dealing with a critical issue that challenges their existence as a people. But to us the creative industry is what we depend and hope on to become anything else in life. We are not different from lawyers, teachers, farmers, doctors, engineers, journalists etc. Who have to do what is necessary not just to ensure the proper functioning of the society but ensure the continuance of the fabric of the society hence our (entertainers) subsistence. That is why you see us still doing entertainment at the immediate time.

A Good Time To Divorce is a story about a Chief Warrant Officer in retirement who refuses to accept divorce from his wife. It is family drama that addresses some of life's core values. This movie was filmed in May and June 2017 in Buea, Cameroon. The cast and crew are all Cameroonians except the Sound Engineer Jean Marc but he resides in Cameroon and is married to a Cameroonian.

The world premiere of the movie has been scheduled for Oklahoma on March 24 and Dallas on April 6. The movie is written and directed by Nkanya Nkwai but not without the support of Yibain Emile-Aime Chah  Achille Brice Anurin Nwunembom aka Roots Art Tebo Njei Safindah Indah Wilston Muluh Mokom aka Kool Day Willston Fred Takum Godisz Fungwa Njonguo Kate Alenne Menget Ats Rapha Obi Tambe Palmer Ngale MbuaJean - Marc  Cedot Prisca Edie. The movie's costume was designed by Sharon Manka creative director of Sha Sha Designs.

The Executive Producers of the movie are Mr and Mrs Edie; Edie Boris and Nicol L Lami. This wonderful couple has an excellent performance in doing job and making sure we have the best possible outcome of the movie.

GASHA ON APEX 1 RADIO
News / Latest / TTS
Tuesday, 27 February 2018 21:56

GASHA - TIPTOPSTARS
Any narrative that does not mention Gasha as one of the pioneers of the current phenomenal era of Cameroonian urban music would be wrong.
Her emergence almost seven years ago was a remarkable signal of what has become a successful music movement today. For one thing, Gasha is so distinguished, even when her genre is common amongst the artists of her generation. She gives it an additional touch that makes anything Gasha so cajoling. It is hard to tell if the artist, author of the timeless KHAKI MBERE, went on a sabbatical because her tracks have the propensity to stay with lovers of Gasha’s music forever. But some feeling of the artist’s absence for a while was gripping enough to entertain questions of her whereabouts. Did BACK TO LIFE, released over a fortnight ago answer that question? Even if it did, there are certainly more questions fans of the artist plus listeners of Apex 1 Radio would have loved to have responses to.
Gasha will be our guest on APEX SNAPSHOT on Apex 1 Radio – www.apex1radio.com this Sunday, March 4, 2018. The show which will be broadcast from Columbus, Ohio, USA begins at 12 noon eastern time (6pm in Buea). Produced by Marcel Adig and Ayo Akinuli aka AY, the show will be hosted by Ernest Kanjo, accompanied by Crystal Beauty of the Crystal Beauty Show. Award-winning Gasha (AFRIMMA 2014 Best Female Artist in Central Africa) hit the music road in 2012 and since then, has marched on to success with distinguished collaborations with frontline singers including Stanley Enow, Magasco, Nabil and Ugandan Eddy Kenzo.
