Bright Face for Bright Phase

bp_pic1.jpgA bright future for the youth is what Bright Phase envisages for Cameroon. That is what motivated Sylvanus Ako (Sylva, different from Silver, the Reggae artiste), Patlaw Eseme (Pally), Mezoh Beryl (Beryl) and Bemo Basame (Blacky) when they joined voices to pass across the message of hope. For more than half a decade now, the group has been dishing out its best to music fans via soul-searching melodious tunes, most of them composed by Sylva and Pally.

Singing in several music genres, the group exploits themes such as patriotism, love and peace. The group has three albums; Why Religion (2004), Africa Na 4 Before (2005) and No More War (2007). And they are very inspired. “We are inspired by God and daily happenings in society,” says Sylva. “We work hard, spending sleepless nights in the process to be able to come out with quality songs,” he adds.

It is thanks to hard work, coupled with determination and prayers that Bright Phase was recognised by KORA, Africa’s biggest music awards as nominee.

KORA has been our dream since 2006 when we first submitted our work. I’m thankful to God that Bright Phase is a nominee this year,” Sylva explains.

In one of Bright Phase’s international exploits, the group intends to produce an album with 2005 KORA best traditional artiste, Nigerian-born Kefee.

“That will happen by the end of this year,” Sylva reveals. The young singers pay tribute to Odile Ngaska, renowned gospel music artiste and SOCAM board chair, for her unflinching support to Bright Phase.
