Germany: Cameroonians brace for biggest diaspora event

There is a growing anxiety within the Cameroonian community in Germany as all roads now lead to Berlin, the beautiful German city you would love to visit and visit again after a first experience. Beginning Friday May 17 2013, Cameroonians living in the diaspora, especially the ones in Germany will converge to kick off with activities of this year’s Challenge Camerounais, the annual socio-economic and cultural fair which has been confirmed one of the biggest Cameroonian events in the diaspora.

According to organizers, the décor is set for Challenge Camerounais 2013. “We are just waiting for Friday to start unveiling the rich package we’ve reserved for our guests this year,” one of them told TIPTOPSTARS’ editor at press time. “Just like is the case every year Challenge Camerounais 2013 has innovations which guest will discover at the event,” he went further.

Organized under the theme “The New Generation’s Vision”, the business and social forum of the Berlin edition of Challenge Camerounais will be looking into various horizons which contemporary youths have judged to be possible avenues of bringing development. Dr Paul K. Fokam, guest speaker at the forum will be throwing more light on this topic. “We trust our guest speaker and hope by the end of his discourse, we would be able to start conceiving business plans that could go a long way to change the economic landscape of our beloved country,” said a Germany-based Cameroonian student as she awaits CC Berlin 2013.

Like the case in the past, Challenge Camerounais 2013 will be marked by Colorful Match pass at the opening ceremony and the exhibition of Cameroonian traditional delicacies in a gastronomic show that is expected to pull a lot of attraction. On the other hand, children will engage in several colorful kiddies’ activities. And while they do that, their parents and others will be actively involved in sports competitions including Football, Handball, Table Tennis, Athletics, etc. which has always been top-rated at CC.

Perhaps the blooming side of CC has always been the cultural display of the event. This segment of CC will be marked by the Open Air Festival, Cameroon’s Got Talent show, Disco Night and the Gala Night. While Coco Argentee will perform what she knows best at Disco Night, Charlotte Dipanda, guest artist for this edition will be thrilling the crowds at the Gala Night. Renowned Cameroonian filmmaker, Thierry Ntamack will also be inspiring aspiring seventh artists at CC Berlin 2013.

Panorama06
Meantime Charlotte Dipanda, guest artist has been calling on Cameroonians and friends of the country to answer present at CC 2013 and have a taste of her musical know-how. Before this event, the several times award-winning iconic singer just rounded off a Cameroonian universities campus tour which took her to Buea, Dschang, Yaounde, Maroua, Douala and Ngoundere. Other artists who have previously performed at CC amongst others include are Lady Ponce, Majoie Ayi, Fingon Tralala, X- Maleya, Jean Pierre Esome etc.

Under the watchful eyes of Cameroon’s Ambassador to Germany Jean-Marc Mpay, CC 2013 will bring together officials of the Cameroonian diplomatic mission in Germany and other people coming from outside Europe.

Challenge Camerounais is a highly reputed socio-cultural event that has grown over the years to take on a new economic twist. Initiated some 21 years ago, Challenge Camerounais began as a football competition between Cameroonian teams in three German cities. It has grown significantly to a crowd-pulling socio-cultural and business fair with over six thousand guests taking part in the event every year. It brings together Cameroonian students and graduates in Germany in a bid to seek avenues of giving back to their country from the diaspora.
