There is nothing as noble as celebrating achievements. Gratification is one big thing in film making that inspire creativity and hard work. Good enough, young Cameroonians have accepted this fact and would not wait for others to hail them while they watch their drama unfold. To this effect, movie awards have been sprouting in the country at an interesting rate. Be there in Kumba, Buea, Yaounde, Bamenda and what have you, film promoters have been trying to share these joyous moments with those who make the ball roll.
One of such promoters is Quibeku Film Empire (QUFE), a film critique and promotion outfit. QUFE is about now stepping up preparations for the second edition of Dream Africa Movie Awards (DAMA) which the outfit founded to be one of the outlets for appreciating hard work and exposing the people who deserve praise in film production. “We are calling on film makers in and out of Cameroon to massive attend the event,” a statement from QUFE, sent to our newsroom reads. The event which takes place at the magnificent Azam Hotel in Bamenda, North West region of Cameroon on 24 November will definitely be a crowd-puller. “I can’t wait to be part of this year’s DAMA,” a movie fan based in Tiko, South West region of Cameroon told TIPTOPSTARS. “It’s an initiative I wholeheartedly support and would encourage many of such in our country.”
To Etiendem R. Etiendem, DAMA organizer, they are spending sleepless nights to give the event the grandeur it deserves. “This is going to be another historic event holding in Bamenda after the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Cameroonian military in 2010,” he says. He further urges potential sponsors and good helpers to come on board so that Cameroon could be proud of having had a recognition event of that magnitude.
