What a giant step ahead for Cameroonian movies done in English. They now feature for projection at one of Africa’s biggest annual film festivals, Ecran Noir in Yaounde. This year, Asaba Ferdinand’s Mark of the Absolute and Maru Gatscaya’s Hotel Vianello were projected at the festival. “It was a great honour to have my movie projected at Ecran Noir,” said Asaba, just back from China where he went to multiple copies of the film. To Kumba-based Gatscaya, the featuring of Hotel Vianello at the film exhibition was an encouragement to him. “I’m poised to produce more films,” said the movie director who also acts. Meantime, Cluster, the popular Musing derrick Bamenda-shot movie was on Line up at Cinema Abbia recently. Movie fans confess it was wonderful watching the action-packed film on a giant screen.
