Nji Ivo Partem hardly finds sleep on Sunday,
Tuesday and Thursday nights. Reason? The bulky dark-skinned 1.73m-tall rising
TV presenter has the herculean task of getting millions of viewers worldwide
off their beds on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings with "Bonjour", the Cameroon
Radio Television (CRTV) wake-up show. Herculean task? Yes, Master Ivo, as his
Yaounde FM 94 fans call him, has to sustain the three-hour show in French, his
second official language. Yet, the refined broadcaster who is fast becoming a
sensation in the media landscape is originally English-speaking, born of
Balikumbat parents.
It is this strength that the young journalist shuttles with between Studio I of Mballa II and the brown studio of CRTV FM 94 in Nlonkak. Hardly does he round off the TV show at 9am than the jingle for "Fragrance", which he runs in English hits the FM 94 airwaves. Then hear how Master Ivo's captivating voice and attractive English articulation creates sensation in the nation's capital. "I fell in love with broadcasting way back in secondary school and was co-opted on Foly Dirane's ‘Insollite' on FM 94 in the 90s," the University of Yaounde II graduate explains. He continues, "I later co-presented ‘Mini Secret' with Nadine Patricia before running my holiday show, Compact Express'." |
