Before hitting prominence via “The Core”, one of the most captivating TV shows in Cameroon today, Marceline Beri, popularly known as Queen B, was just a little known Hip-Hop fan. Even her brief stop-over at Douala-based Radio des Lauréats did not make her popular. But today, Queen B of Equinoxe Television has become every tele viewer’s favourite TV presenter “I’m indebted to Equinoxe TV for bringing me to the limelight,” says the Seat of Wisdom College, Fontem ex-student.
“The Core” (by-monthly) has not only brought Beri Marceline in close contact with Cameroonian artists, but has enlightened fans on what they don’t know about their favourite stars” It’s my own way of promoting the Cameroonian culture and to another extent what is African,” Queen B explains. This vision, style, and probably her palatable English accent are what would have attracted South African based entertainment TV Station, Channel O. “Channel badly needs me, but I’m not ready to leave Equinoxe,” she discloses. The phenomenal Queen B from Bali Nyonga in the North West Province, says she receives mails from some countries, especially Nigeria congratulating her on her show, but little do her TV fans know that the potential Sociology/ Mass Communication graduate is a song writer” I compose songs for Hip-Hop musicians, inspired by the down trodden,” she reveals. The 1.65m-tall and 63kg lover of sports pays tribute to Ngong Henry , her uncle who brought her up and will never forget Beko Sadey who told her one day “What you’re doing is gonna take you far.”
