Make-up is a common practice among girls and
women. Before going on an outing, most girls make up make-up to look beautiful.
Though time-consuming, it is such an easy and exciting exercise that poses
little or no problems. But professional make-up (common in cinema) is
different. It requires much diligence, patience and skill. Such qualities can
be found in Linda Njikta, a 25-year-old hope-rising make-up artist.
“Make-up is a childhood passion,” she reveals.
The Yaounde-based artist continues: “All through my life I like to look
beautiful. As such, I often find time to mix lotions and apply them on my
face.”
However, the dreams of young Njkta were realised when in 2005, she was
called upon to do make-up for actors and actresses of Vanilla, a Cameroonian
movie. Her performance attracted the director of Path of Love (2006) and Mark
of the Absolute (2007) who
invited the 1.68-tall artist to make up actors and actresses for the films.
Njikta, from Santa in the North
West Province
hopes to take a course in make-up, but her skill (even in masking) makes anyone
think the Yaounde I University graduate has already done that. Away
from make-up, the 68kg artist has featured in five Cameroonian home video
films.
