The name V-Key is on every lip since the 2009 edition of "Stars 2 Demain" rounded off a couple of weeks ago. The Yaounde-based rising singer, from Mbengwi in the North West region emerged third. Thousands of young and aspiring musicians booked in for the fourth edition of the song competition, says to have come of age. "Emerging third really made me proud of my talent," said V-Key, who is also a Theatre arts and Cinematography student in the University of Yaounde I. She adds: "It also makes me feel I'll be acclaimed when I become a full-fledge musician." The 23-year-old singer however explains that it was not an easy task, having to learn new singing techniques in the "Stars 2 Demain" camp. "My soul-searching voice and dexterity on stage played the trick anyway," she told us. V-Key who started singing way back in secondary school was inspired by Achalle's achievement. She says: "This spurred me to go in for the competition after two previous hesitations." One of her songs, either We Are Happy or My All will feature in the 2009 "Stars 2 Demain" community album which will comprise of the six singers who contested in the last phase of the competition. Meanwhile, the talented singer who has attracted the attention of some renowned musicians will feature Annie Anzouer and Marco Mbella in her maiden album of seven songs to be released early next year. "Annie was quite fascinated when I interpreted ....., she later promised she'll work with me," she told us. And added: "I've benefited quite much from the older generation who have spared no effort in advising me to be patient, humble and hard working." V-Key who loves swimming, cooking and travelling, is 1.65 metres tall. |
