That Lady Ponce and Nar6 Price emerged 2008 best female and male artistes respectively was certainly no surprised to Cameroonians who bother to notice trends in our music. With Trahison and Elegancia, the bikutsi queen and makossa icon had controlled the scene throughout 2008, winning hearts of many a music lovers. Lady and Nar6 were voted by Canal d’Or, today described as Cameroon’s most prestigious music awards. At a ceremony last weekend in Douala, attended by stakeholders in showbiz from Gabon, Benin, Central Africa Republic, Europe and America, over a dozen artists were awarded. Canal d’Or which was in its 5th edition is organised by Douala-based private TV station Canal 2 International.
