Ejike Asiegbu is a household name in the Nigerian film industry. He is one of the most admired Nollywood stars among Cameroonians. During a recent visit to Yaounde, he enjoyed a warm reception. In an exclusive interview with Ernest Kanjo, the film star who is also the president of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) talked about himself, his career and his love for Cameroon.
Who is Ejike Asiegbu? I am a dramatist with a degree in acting and directing. I have a 28- year career experience in motion pictures where I am an international consultant. What do you make of Cameroon? It is a peaceful, beautiful and accommodating place. I will love to visit Cameroon again and again. How will you assess the Cameroon film industry? It is true that it is a budding industry but it is made up of talented and enthusiastic people. However there’s a great need for partnership.
What do you make of Cameroon-Nigeria co-production? It is a brilliant idea but the movies should feature more Cameroonians than Nigerians.
It is said that Nollywood is saturated, reason why Nigerians are coming to Cameroon Nigerians have not run short of stories. We still have more to offer to the world.
What do you make of Cameroon? It is a peaceful, beautiful and accommodating place. I will love to visit Cameroon again and again.
